The Perfect Maine Bed and Breakfast experience in the heart of Down East Maine. Conveniently
located off route 1, just 5 miles from Ellsworth, our wonderful Cottage by the Sea is tucked
away on its own private ocean front property. With over 650' of shore frontage, Cottage by the
Sea is an enchanting hide away in the heart of Down East Maine.
Cottage by the Sea is minutes from Acadia National Park, Schoodic Point and Mount Desert
Island.
About the Cottage:
Awaken to the aroma of fresh brewed Coffee, ready and waiting at 7 am. Take your first cup of
coffee out to our ocean side deck or patio, along with local papers provided for you, or just relax
and watch the changing tides.
Linger over a three or four course gourmet breakfast at your own private table in our indoor
gazebo dining room. You will be served by candle light on fine china and crystal. Our attention
to detail will leave you wanting for nothing and feeling completely pampered. For the benefit of
those spending more than one night with us, we will not serve the same menu twice during
your stay. Guests might enjoy lobster quiche, herb and cheese scrambled eggs, or cheese
crepes served with in season fruit sauces. Each morning we include breads or muffins, toast
juice and fruit. Decaffeinated coffee and tea are available along with regular coffee. We use free
range eggs and local organic produce whenever possible. Let us know about any special
dietary requirements.
The coffee pot and hot water for tea are available throughout the day and cookies or pastries at
check in time. Cottage by the Sea does not have a liquor license, however guests are welcome
to bring their own. We have lots of ice.
Crackers and cheese are served late afternoon.
We provide a full turn down service.
Rooms and Rates:
Each room is designed to be elegantly comfortable, offering all the amenities of a Down East,
Maine, fine country inn. All bath rooms are private. Guests are provided spa quality products
and thirsty Egyptian cotton towels. All rooms have clock radios, satellite TV, iron and ironing
boards, hair dryers, ceiling fans, sitting areas , luxury bedding, and telephones. Cottage by the
Sea is air conditioned.
The Yellow Room - $165
Ocean side with a view of Kilkenny Cove. The headboard, comforter, and window treatments
are custom made as is the mattress. Hand painted furniture was made especially for cottage
by the sea. This room has a small sitting area, refrigerator, large private bath with a shower
and dressing area.
The Blue Room - $145
Overlooking the garden area. The bedding is custom made and from Waverly's "Luxury
Bedding Line". The luxury mattress is topped with a pillow mattress topper for extra comfort.
The hand painted night stand and French Armoire were made especially for Cottage by the
sea. There is a small sitting area. The private bath has a tub, shower combination.
The Green Room - $155
Overlooks a woodsy area. The 2 whimsical, full size beds have luxury mattresses with fluffy
pillow mattress toppers. The bedding is from Schumacher's "Luxury Line". This good size
room has a sitting area, refrigerator, walk in closet and private bath with a shower.
Rates
Rates are based on double occupancy. Cottage by the Sea is open June through mid-October.
Two-night minimum stay required, three-night minimum stay for holiday weekends.
Our rooms are smoke free. We have provided out side smoking areas.
To reserve a room for a future date, one nights lodging or half of the rental rate is required,
whichever is greatest. Should you need to cancel your reservation, two weeks notice will be
required. All monies will be returned minus $25.
Payment
Visa, Master Card and personal checks are accepted. Full payment is expected at check in
time.
Check in
3 p.m. - 7 p.m., special arrangements can be made for later check in.
Check out
Check out time is 11 a.m.. We regret that we can not extend check out time.
Pets and children
We love children, however, Cottage by the sea is a quiet adult retreat. We are unable to accept
pets ...We have our own dog. We will be more than happy to help you find a kennel.
